Bad WildungenBad Wildungen
A spa town of around 18,500 people, with 18 healing springs and one of the largest rehabilitation hubs in Germany – health, relaxation and nature in one place.
More and more guests come here for rest and relaxation. Stroll through the historic old town with its half-timbered houses and imposing church, or wander along the Brunnenallee with its grand baroque buildings towards the pump room.
There you enter Europe’s largest spa park and can walk all the way to Reinhardshausen in one connected park – passing several healing springs where you can refresh yourself with fresh spring water. High above the town sits Friedrichstein Castle with a wonderful view over the old town and spa quarter.
Around the town lies the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park – some 7,700 hectares of beech forest and part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage. On natural trails you can experience one of Germany's largest unbroken beech woodlands. The low-barrier “TreeTopWalk” canopy path brings the forest up close, even for families and people with limited mobility.
Just a stone's throw away, Lake Eder invites you in – at 27 km the largest reservoir in Europe. A paradise for hiking, cycling, angling and sailing, framed by old beech forests and with views of Waldeck Castle. The lakeside Edersee loop follows the shore all the way and pairs nicely with the passenger ferries; from Bad Wildungen you reach it via the well-built R5 cycle path.
